Being Self-Reliant

Radical Self-Reliance is one of our core principles. Here's how to practice it.

Minimum requirement: 4 liters per person per day (drinking, cooking, washing). For 5 days, that's at least 20 liters per person.

Tips:

  • Bring more than you think you need
  • Large water containers (20-25L) are more practical than small bottles
  • Keep water in shade to stay cool
  • Have a dedicated drinking water supply

Plan all your meals before arriving. Consider:

  • Easy-to-prepare meals (you might not want to cook elaborate meals)
  • Non-perishable staples (canned food, dried goods, energy bars)
  • Fresh food in a cooler (ice available for purchase)
  • Snacks for energy throughout the day and night
  • Electrolyte drinks or supplements

Pro tip: Pre-cook some meals at home and bring them in sealed containers.

Czech weather in late April/early May can be unpredictable:

  • Daytime: Can be warm (15-25°C) and sunny
  • Nighttime: Can be cold (5-10°C) or even colder
  • Rain: Be prepared for spring showers

Set up your tent properly:

  • Choose a flat spot, avoid low areas that collect water
  • Stake your tent securely – it can get windy
  • Use a ground tarp under your tent
  • Create shade for daytime comfort

MOOP = Matter Out Of Place

This includes anything that wasn't at the site before we arrived:

  • Cigarette butts (bring a portable ashtray!)
  • Food scraps and crumbs
  • Glitter and sequins (please avoid these!)
  • Feathers, confetti, and decorations
  • Grey water (from washing dishes)

Golden rule: If you drop it, pick it up. If you see MOOP, pick it up even if it's not yours.

Portable toilets will be provided, but you should still bring:

  • Your own toilet paper
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Wet wipes for personal hygiene
  • A small bucket/basin for washing

Note: There are no showers on site. Plan accordingly or embrace the experience!

We have Rangers and first aid available, but for minor issues, handle them yourself:

  • Bring a complete first aid kit
  • Know your own medical needs and medications
  • Stay hydrated and eat regularly
  • Know your limits – it's okay to rest
  • Look out for each other

In case of emergency: Find a Ranger or go to the Info Point.

Do's and Don'ts

✓ DO

  • Bring more supplies than you think you need
  • Share and gift freely with others
  • Pick up MOOP – even if it's not yours
  • Ask for consent before touching or photographing
  • Participate, create, and contribute
  • Stay hydrated and take care of yourself

✗ DON'T

  • Leave any trace behind
  • Bring glitter, confetti, or loose decorations
  • Sell or barter (except ice & coffee)
  • Be a spectator – participate!
  • Take photos of others without consent
  • Expect others to take care of you
